Prohibited Items

Last updated: July 19, 2026

Some items can never be requested, offered, carried, or delivered through CarryCircle, no matter how the Shopper and Traveler agree to handle them. This page describes those items along with items that are restricted or allowed only under certain conditions. It is not exhaustive: an item that is illegal to possess, sell, export, or import in either the origin or destination country is prohibited on CarryCircle even if it is not specifically listed below, and CarryCircle may add to this list at any time.

Overview

Every Request posted and every Offer accepted on CarryCircle is subject to this Prohibited Items policy, which forms part of our Terms of Service. Shoppers may not request, and Travelers may not offer to carry, any item described as "always prohibited" below under any circumstances. Items described as "restricted" may be permitted, but only where allowed by law in both the origin and destination location and where the Traveler is able and willing to comply with any additional conditions that apply. Because customs rules, import restrictions, and controlled-substance laws vary by country and change over time, this page cannot cover every possible item or jurisdiction. When you are unsure whether something can be requested or carried, treat it as prohibited until you have confirmed otherwise with the relevant customs authority or a qualified professional.

Always prohibited

The following categories of items may never be requested, offered, carried, or delivered through CarryCircle, regardless of the origin or destination country:

Hazardous & flammable materials

  • Compressed or flammable gases, including camping and lighter refill canisters.
  • Flammable liquids and solids, such as fuel, lighter fluid, and matches in bulk.
  • Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides.
  • Corrosive substances, including strong acids and industrial cleaning agents.
  • Toxic or infectious substances not intended for personal medical use.

Weapons, ammunition & explosives

  • Firearms, firearm components, and ammunition of any kind.
  • Explosives, fireworks, flares, and blasting materials.
  • Knives, stun guns, pepper spray, and other weapons restricted or banned for transport under applicable law.

Illegal drugs & controlled substances

  • Illegal narcotics and controlled substances of any kind.
  • Drug paraphernalia intended for use with illegal substances.
  • Any substance that is legal in the origin location but classified as a controlled or banned substance in the destination location, or vice versa.

Counterfeit, stolen & unlawfully obtained goods

  • Counterfeit goods or items that infringe another party's trademark, copyright, patent, or other intellectual property rights.
  • Stolen goods, or goods the Shopper or Traveler has reason to believe were unlawfully obtained.

Currency, securities & precious materials for resale

  • Cash, bearer securities, money orders, or other negotiable instruments.
  • Precious metals or gemstones being carried for resale, trading, or investment purposes rather than as a finished personal item such as jewelry.

Human remains & biological material

  • Human remains, ashes, or body parts.
  • Human organs or tissue.
  • Biological samples, cultures, or specimens not accompanied by the documentation required for lawful transport.

Obscene or illegal media

  • Obscene material, or any content whose possession, sale, or distribution is illegal in the origin or destination location.

Restricted & conditional

The items below are not automatically prohibited, but they may only be requested and carried where doing so is legal in both the origin and destination country and consistent with the applicable airline's and customs authority's rules. A Traveler who is not comfortable carrying a restricted item, or who cannot confirm it is permitted for their specific route, may decline the Request.

  • Alcohol & tobacco — permitted only within the quantity limits and age restrictions that apply at both the origin and destination, and never where prohibited outright.
  • Prescription medication — permitted only in reasonable personal-use quantities and, where required, accompanied by a valid prescription or supporting documentation.
  • Lithium batteries & certain electronics — permitted only where they meet the applicable airline's and carrier's watt-hour and packaging requirements for air transport.
  • Perishable food & plants — permitted only where allowed under the destination country's agricultural and biosecurity rules, which commonly restrict or ban fresh produce, meat, dairy, and seeds.
  • Live animals — allowed only where legal for both the origin and destination country and consistent with the applicable airline's and customs rules for transporting live animals.
Even where an item in this list is legally permitted, CarryCircle may remove such requests at its discretion, including where we determine the item creates undue risk, liability, or logistical difficulty for the platform or its members.

Your responsibility

Shoppers and Travelers are jointly responsible for confirming that an item is legal to buy, carry, and import for the specific route involved before a Request is posted, an Offer is submitted, or a match is accepted. This policy is provided as general guidance and is not a substitute for checking the customs, import, and transport rules that apply to your specific item, route, and airline. If you are unsure whether an item is prohibited or restricted, do not post, offer, or accept the Request — contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] before proceeding.
